SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

General Rules of Submission:

You may submit up to six poems at a time. We do not accept simultaneous submissions. We do not accept previously published work. Poems with complex formatting must be submitted in hard copy by post.

Poems must be in English and the original work of the author. Translations are accepted but must be marked as such and the title and author of the original poem must be included.

Submissions are judged blind so your name should not appear on the poem. Include a separate sheet with your name, address and a list of poems submitted.

Postal Submissions:

All poems must be typed on one side of the paper only. No fancy fonts, no coloured inks or coloured paper is permitted. Black ink on white standard size paper please.

Poems which run over more than one page must be marked 'page 1 of 2' etc.

If you want a postal reply, please enclose a Stamped Addressed Envelope of at least A5 size. Overseas submissions should include an International Reply Coupon.

You can choose to have a reply by e-mail. Please make sure you include your e-mail address.

Editorial Address (from June 1st, 2008):

Nigel McLoughlin, Editorial Board, iota, Room QU223, Francis Close Hall, University of Gloucestershire, Swindon Road, Cheltenham, GL50 4AZ.

E-Mail Submissions:

You may submit up to six poems in the body of an e-mail. We will not open attachments. Poems should be clearly marked with the TITLE capitalised and 'END' at the end of each one.

A cover note at the start of the e-mail should include your name, postal address and a list of titles of poems submitted. Your name should not be appended to the poems themselves.

The e-mail address is iotapoetry@gmail.com

Response Time:

We will reply within three months, if you have not heard by the end of that time, drop us a line by post or e-mail.

The decision of the editorial board is final, and we won't enter into any correspondence regarding that decision.

Thanks for taking the time to submit to iota. We look forward to reading your work.
